Finally, Samsung Galaxy Tab is now in the Philippines via Smart Communications as its official carrier. This is one of the gadget that I really want to have this Christmas and this is the reason when I’ve heard about its availability on Smart I immediately inquire at the Smart Wireless Center regarding the tab. According to their website, this device is available for free for plan 3000, plan 4000, and with cash out of Php16,000 for plan 1500 and Php4,000 for plan 2000.

Right now, I am still waiting for Smart Wireless Center here in Roxas City to call me about the status of my application and the availability of the gadget in our place. I am really excited to have it and will let you know if I did get one later.
Update: Galaxy Tab is now available in Samsung Mobile Center in Iloilo City for a price of 35 thousand pesos. I want to buy it but I am still waiting for SMART to respond to my application for the unlimited surfing plan. I hope it will be very soon ‘coz I am really excited to get my fingers on the Android gadget.
Latest Update: Samsung got a Summer Super Sale and the tab Wifi+3G version is now available at P21,990 while the Wifi-only version is now only P16,990. You can check their website at http://www.samsung.com/ph/ for the detail of their promotional galaxy sale.

Hi Bleuken, I’ve been wanting to get a new device for multimedia entertainment. I’m pretty happy with my individual gadgets: Nokia E72, Creative Zen, and an SLR. Thing is, I just really want something to watch movies on. My current player has this tiny 2.4″ screen and I can’t read subtitles that small. So my question is, since you have the GT, is it really that useful or is just too much of a big device at 7″ screen? Or can you suggest any other device that might be handy enough for multimedia watching? Thanks 🙂
Hi, were you able to get yours from Smart? If yes, how long did it take them to provide you with one?
@Marlon, Yes I got it with Plan 2000 and I just wait 4it about 2-3 weeks.
How much is the current cost of one unit samsung galaxy tab?
@Ariel, it cost about P35K but you can have it for free with unlimited surf from Smart Wireless Center with plan 3,000 or 4,000.
hi,
my husband is planing to buy a this kind of gadget.he wants to know if this can recieved and send sms.tnx
@rose ann, yes you can receive SMS and make a call.
Hi, I have a friend from Alaska and I requested him to buy me a tab back there. My problem is that I have the dilemma that maybe when I receive it, I need to get it unlocked and all that other crap. All I want to know is that if I could use it here in the Philippines. Thanks!
@Pao, I think you can if he buys the unlocked unit. If it is locked on a certain carrier in Alaska, then that will be a problem which I don’t know if there’s unlocking procedure on Android or Galaxy tab forums since the device is still young in the market.
Hi,
I’m from Roxas City also and I’m planning to sign up for a Smart Wireless plan so I can get the Samsung Galaxy Tab for free. Anyhow, how did your application go? Is it available already in Roxas? Please let me know!
Thanks
@Gift, yes just got the tab last week. I like its features but its difficult to find accessories for the gadget like its pouch, stand, keyboard, etc. But maybe this stuff will be available by next year.
